Strengthen your Vision
Following are clear signs that you need to strengthen your vision. Do any of these align with your challenges?
Inconsistent Decision Making
Frequent changes of direction: The business often veers off course, shifting focus and strategies without a clear reason.
Difficulty prioritizing tasks: The owner struggles to determine what is most important and allocates resources haphazardly.
Unengaged Employees
Lack of motivation: Employees may seem disengaged or uninspired, as they are unsure of the company's purpose or direction.
High turnover: A revolving door of employees can signal a lack of a compelling vision that keeps people invested.
Weak Company Culture
Lack of shared values: Employees may feel disconnected from the company's mission and values.
Ineffective communication: Internal communication may be inconsistent or unclear, leading to misunderstandings and confusion.
Failure to Adapt to Change
Resistance to innovation: The business may struggle to keep up with industry trends or adapt to changing market conditions.
Overreliance on past successes: The owner may be reluctant to try new things or take risks, clinging to outdated strategies.
Lack of Long-Term Goals
Short-term focus: The business may be overly focused on immediate gains, neglecting long-term planning and growth.
No clear succession plan: The owner may not have considered how the business will continue without them.
If you recognize these signs, that’s a good thing; you have discernment and wisdom. There are a handful of ways to fortify and even create a proper vision. My approach would be to work with your personality and learning style (visual, audio, kinesthetic, written) to build up this vision. There are tools and techniques for this, and the best one is having someone like myself to help guide you and be a sounding board for your own thoughts.
